NBF selects 10 boxers for Rio 2016 Olympic qualifier

HE Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF)  has released names of 10 selected boxers that will fight for Rio 2016 slots in the Olympic  qualifiers scheduled to hold in Cameroun. The federation also decamped 12 out of the 22 boxers that were earlier invited.

The 10 lucky boxers were made up of seven men and three  women  which included  three of the 2015 Congo Brazzaville All Africa Games gold medalists and 2 Silver medalists.

These include Efe Ajagba (Gold medalist), Efetobor Apochi (Silver medalist), Korede Adeniji, Kazeem Soyoye, Muyideen Oyakojo and two new surprise entrants that defeated champions of their weight categories,

Sadiq Umar from the United Kingdom who defeated both Ayodele Mike and Danuloko Ekele and Abua Christian that made nonsense of 2015 All Africa Games gold medalist, Femi Oyeleye whom he turn-ed into a punching bag during their consistent internal trials in camp.

In the women category are 2015 All Africa Games gold medalist, Soldier lady, Edith Ogoke-Agu and her two Nigerian Army counterparts, Kehinde Obareh (Gold medalist) and Caroline Linus (Silver medalist).

The Secretary General of Nigeria Boxing Federation, Olusola Luke who disclosed this also informed that Damola Azeez, Oladosu Rilwan, Ademuyiwa Kehinde, Danuloko Ekele, Gabriel Francis, Belgium   based Kenneth Roland and the surprise of them all, Femi Oyeleye, the 2015 All Africa   Games gold medalist were the boxers decamped.

Vice President of the Nigeria Boxing Federation Ibrahim Suleiman Zango said decamping the boxers became necessary so as to allow the coaches concentrate fully on those going to Cameroun and also to protect and save the real potentials from unnecessary harm by the decampees.
