3 Unilag students arraigned over alleged N10, 500 theft, phones worth N506,000
Three University of Lagos Students were on Thursday charged before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly robbing their fellow students of N10, 500 cash and phones valued at N506, 000. They were, however, admitted to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties each in like sum. The students — Micheal Onwuameze (27), Henry Ngene (22) and Adetayo Adekoya (25) – did not have their addresses stated.
42% of teachers in Kaduna State unqualified, says Gov. El-Rufa’i
Gov. Nasiru El-Rufa’i of Kaduna State on Thursday said that over 42 per cent of teachers in Kaduna State were unqualified. El-Rufa’i stated this at the commissioning ceremony of a 1,500-seater capacity hall named after him at the Federal College of Education (FCE), Zaria, Kaduna State. The edifice was constructed by the college through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TEDFUND).
Protest: Yabatech suspends academic activities for 4 weeks
The Academic Board of Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) on Thursday suspended academic activities and asked its students to go home for four weeks. This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Charles Oni, the Head of Public Relations Unit of the college, and made available tonewsmen in Lagos. Oni said that the move was to allow the management, staff and students mourn a student, Miss Comfort Dazan, who died on Wednesday.
Free Feeding: Kaduna govt sacks headmaster, suspends 2 others for diverting pupils’ Biscuits, Oranges
The Kaduna State Government has sacked two senior education officials and suspended two others for diverting food meant for the feeding of primary school pupils. The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Dr Shehu Adamu, said at a news briefing in Kaduna on Thursday, that the officials had circumvented laid down procedures of the government’s Schools Feeding Programme, which commenced in January.

Four reverend sisters perish in auto crash in Cross River
CALABAR- FOUR Reverend Sisters of the Ogoja Catholic Archdiocese were killed while two were taken unconscious when the car they were travelling had a head-on collision with a truck along the Ogoja – Ikom highway on Wednesday. The sisters according to a source at the Ogoja Catholic Archdiocese were travelling to Uyo in Akwa Ibom State for a church programme in preparation for the 2016 Easter when they met their tragic death at Alok, some few kilometres away from the Mbok Junction, in Ogoja local government area.
