An unidentified 70-year-old woman was, yesterday, crushed to death by an articulated truck at the Railway Crossing Intersection in Agege, Lagos State, just as two people lost their lives, while two others sustained injuries in an auto crash, which occurred at the Ota Tollgate in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, Ogun State.

A source said the mentally-challenged woman was killed at 6a.m., while the Ota accident happened when two trailers had a head-on collision.

A resident, Titlope, said she had been seeing the woman for the past three months, adding that on Wednesday, when she passed the rail line, the woman was sleeping.

Confirming the incident, the General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, LASTMA, Mr. Bashir Braimah, explained that the accident occurred at about 5.30a.m. after a section of the articulated truck detached from it while trying to manoeuvre at the junction.

On the Ota accident, which occurred at the Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway, it was gathered that one of the vehicles had brake failure.

The two vehicles are a Mack truck with number plates, Lagos KJA 93 XJ and another DAF truck, LXD 355 XJ.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, were at the scene. Ogun State Sector Commander, Adegoke Adetunji, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent on telephone, said the accident occurred at 12.53a.m.

He said the two dead bodies were deposited at the Ota General Hospital’s morgue, while the injured were receiving treatment at the same hospital.
