A retired Director of the CBN, Mr Chris Nemedia, on Monday urged the Federal Government to be less-dependent on trading in crude oil in the international market. Nemedia, who made the plea in an interview with newsmen in Lagos, said that processed commodities were more profitable to trade in. `Emphasis should be on adding value to the primary commodities like oil before exporting them in order to get the desired yield like other nations from natural resources

4 dead in suicide attack at mosque
Four worshippers were killed in a suicide bombing at a mosque in northern Cameroon on Monday, a security source said, five days after a similar attack left 12 people dead. Monday’s blast hit the village of Nguetchewe in Cameroon’s Far North region, in an area near the border with Nigeria regularly targeted by Boko Haram jihadists. “The toll of this attack is four dead and two injured,” the source, who was at the scene of the attack, told AFP.

Dr Uthman Mubashir, Kwara Coordinator of the Civil Society Scaling up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN), on Monday said about seven million children in the country are malnourished. Mubashir told newsmen in Ilorin that two out of every three children are not properly fed. According to him, the mortality rate due to malnutrition is high and running into two digits.

Gas Pipeline bombing: We are closing in on perpetrators – JTF Commander
The military, yesterday, invaded some Ijaw communities in Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, with gunboats in search of militants, who carried out a three-day bombing of crude oil and gas pipelines in the state, from last Thursday.
This came as ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, wrote President Muhammadu Buhari, alleging that top members of his party, All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bayelsa and Delta states were responsible for the ongoing vandalization of crude oil and gas pipelines in the creeks of Delta state.
