Dangote: Surveying to be world’s richest
It was Josh Billings that said that “occasions are rare; and those who know how to seize upon them are rarer”. Josh Billings is the pseudonym of the 19th century America humourist (comedian), Henry Wheeler Shaw whose philosophical comments in plain language became popular after the American Civil war. That quote introduces my “guest” who is a rare gem that sees rare opportunity and at the opportune time seizes it. This time he has ventured into the downstream sector of the petroleum industry. Should one resist such a man as Africa’s richest man? Aliko Mohammed Dangote, who I will prefer to address as Mr. Africa makes this edition of the Oil and Gas Summiteer.
Fight age-related illness with a 30-minute walk a day!
IF you want to stay young, don’t wait for a wonder drug—just go for a walk instead. A half-hour walk every day is as good as a ‘super-pill’ capable of combating age-related illness from diabetes to dementia, Britain’s biggest science conference heard. It also fights obesity, arthritis and cancer and helps lift depression. Dr. James Brown, an expert in ageing, said that while 30 minutes’ brisk walking a day may not seem like much, studies from around the world show it benefits all-round health.
The bane of a trial marriage!
For the first time in months, since she left home, Fausat was able to call on a visit. She was like a stranger in the house she couldn’t wait to shake the dust off her feet so many months ago. Her parents were their relaxed, her siblings were all over the place, laughing, and fighting good naturedly with the occasional admonition from their mum. “There’s food in the kitchen”, her mother reminded her and she nodded. She had never known the kitchen to be bare. The housemaid gave a squeal of joy when she saw her. She actually threw herself at her; what she hadn’t done since she came to the house a couple of years ago. She was almost moved to tears.
I was raped
I really am not sure where to begin. I came from a happy home, even though my parents were divorced. I was raped when I was thirteen by a neighbour but I moved on with my life. Two months later, I got married . Nine months into my marriage, I got pregnant, then miscarried. I still tried to move on in life but almost three years after the first rape, I was raped again . This is where I feel like I am going literally crazy. I reported this one to the police, but I think that was a bad idea. I can’t handle the stress this has brought on! It has affected every aspect of my life . I need help rearranging my life.
I’m sexually attracted to a man at work, I’m married
I don’t know what is wrong with me and I have gone very far in a relationship with a guy who works in my office. That is not even the big issue. The big issue is that I’m married and I have kids and enjoy a good relationship with my husband. I have carried on with this for a while and the relationship is good for my sex life because it kind of rejuvenated it and makes me more attractive to my husband who noticed I am looking different and being update in fashion. He has not suspected I’m having an affair but I fear he would eventually get to know if I don’t stop. My life is becoming more exciting and I have come to realise that it’s not just about sex. It’s about everything about me.
She’s in love with another man
The lady of my dreams is in love with another man. I don’t know what to do. I really like her and I think she likes me. The problem is that she is dating someone. The bigger problem is that she is dating my friend. I cannot come between them because I’m the one that settles their love issues. What do I do?
I’m stuck in this relationship
I work off shore most time and that is when most of our problems occur. Even when I’m home, she has to go to work in another city which is the city right next to mine. It’s not a far distance but we manage to see each other as often as possible. Lately we’ve been talking about breaking up, but the problem is we fear being alone. She doesn’t want to be alone and neither do I. Should we just break up?
Cash, Carry Politics with Sambisa dollars
At the peak of the campaigns, just before the elections, on one bright day, the OPC laid siege on Ikorodu road. They brandished their guns, their characteristic lawlessness, and their new fatness. They tried to force the people into knowing that president Jonathan enjoyed their support and therefore had the southwest. Many mouths were not left agape by the nakedness of that which was utterly sordid. Because ethnic militias now fight for their pockets while fighting for freedom. Pipeline contracts that had been awarded them were pragmatic for more than security reasons. After all billions were shared yet the pipelines received no respite.
