Dangote, Chinese firm sign N807bn deal to build cement plants

Plc, yesterday, signed contracts worth $4.34 billion (about N807 billion) with China’s Sinoma International Engineering Co., to build cement plants across nine African countries.
Speaking at the signing in Lagos, Chairman of Dangote Cement, Aliko Dangote, said: “The plants to be built in Cameroon, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal and Zambia, with another in Nepal, Asia, would add around 25 million tonnes to the company’s existing capacity of around 45 million tonnes.
“The projects are going to be delivered within the next 30 months and the production capacity will have reached 70 million tonnes within that time frame. We are not going to stop there. By 2020 we are targeting 100 million tonnes.”
6 men kill woman over feud with husband

Erosion: Catholic Church, over 100 buildings at the brink of collapse
A surveyor in the area, Mr. Dennis Mututu, disclosed that a large portion of land measuring about 15 metres wide and about 40 metres stretch on the coastline, had been washed into the river in a space of two weeks, affecting the base of a landing jetty by the river bank. A resident, Mr. Olotu Preye, whose building is currently at the mercy of rampaging erosion, said the villagers had used sand bags to prevent the scourging erosion, but the measures could not match the intensity of the erosion.
