Death at LUTH: Lagos demands release of autopsy result
THE controversy surrounding the death of the late Consultant Paediatrician, Dr. Hestianna Thomas at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, may soon be put to rest as autopsy has been carried out on the body of the deceased. Already, the Lagos State Government has asked the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, to release the autopsy report, even as the Lagos State Department of Domestic Violence restated its resolve to pursue the case to its logical conclusion. While some said she was a victim of domestic violence, others said she commited suicide.
Crisis looms in Edo Assembly over alleged plans to impeach Speaker
BENIN—CRISIS is looming in Edo State House of Assembly, following alleged plans to impeach the Speaker, Mr Victor Edoror, by aggrieved lawmakers over perceived unaccounted funds and greed. There are fears of a rowdy session today as no fewer than 18 lawmakers are said to be threatening to impeach the speaker. It is alleged that out of the 41 Special Advisers allotted to the lawmakers, rather than share the positions to the 24 members of the House, the speaker is accused of confiscating the entire positions.

Imo NMA spoils for war with govt
OWERRI—Serious labour crisis is now brewing in Imo State medical sector as the leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, has made a six-point demand on Imo State Government, including full and immediate payment of eight months salary arrears of doctors and health workers in the state. Addressing a news conference in Owerri at the weekend, the NMA Chairman, Dr. Hyacinth Emele, also identified payment of the corrected CONMESS and skipping, to doctors working in the state as part of the problem.
