LAGOS—Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olabode George yesterday urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to have a contingency plan in case the card reader for the 2015 general elections failed.

Perturbed by the recent endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan by the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in South-East geopolitical zone, yesterday, took a swipe at the leadership of the group, calling on it to desist from mortgaging the future of Igbo.

Kainji Aluge Obia is the Deputy Director-General, Doris Uboh Campaign Organization, the campaign platform of Doris Uboh for House of Representatives, Ika Federal Constituency, Delta State. Obia is also the Ika South Co-ordinator of Team Ochei, the political platform for the senatorial aspiration of Hon. Victor Ochei for the Delta North Senate seat.

A group, Igbo Youth Movement, IYM, has staged a peaceful rally in Enugu, calling on the international community and Federal Government to caution supporters of the two leading political parties against any form of post-election violence, especially within the Northern part of the country.

The House of Representatives Committee on Environment has called for stakeholders’ collaboration to ensure the full implementation of the Great Green Wall Program, GGWP because it has the potential of of increasing the country’s Gross Domestic Product, GDP. The Chairman of the Committee, Mrs Uche Ekwunife also called for synergy between stakeholders to ensure the full and successful implementation of the programme in view of its enormous benefits not only to Nigeria but also to the entire West African sub-region.
