Money laundering: Fani-Kayode knows fate on June 18
A Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday fixed June 18 for judgment in the trial of a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, charged with money laundering.
Five foreigners beheaded in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia on Monday beheaded five foreigners for murder and robbery, an unusually high number that adds to what Amnesty International has called a “macabre spike” in the kingdom’s executions. Two Yemenis, a Chadian, an Eritrean and a Sudanese were put to death in the Red Sea city of Jeddah, the interior ministry said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.
Inmate escapes in Benin
An inmate of the Benin Prisons was said to have escaped from the custody of a warder of the Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS) on Monday in Benin City. Officials of the NPS are now in search of the prisoner, who escaped while carrying out some menial work.

Mikel, Drogba help Chelsea clinch title
Nigerian John Obi Mikel and Ivorian legend Didier Drogba helped Chelsea defeat Crystal Palace 1-0 at the weekend and clinch the English Premier League title. Deputising for injured striker Diego Costa, 37-year-old Drogba played the 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge while midfielder Mikel came off the bench for the second half. Senegalese Sadio Mane was the lone African scorer in the Premier League, but his goal could not prevent Southampton losing 2-1 at lowly Sunderland.
