Cleric tasks politicians on selfless service

By Marie-Therese Nanlong, Jos

A former President of Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN, Rev. Pandang Yamsat has challenged politicians to put an end to lips service and work selflessly and in the fear of God so that the desired change which Nigerians seek could be achieved.

Rev. Yamsat gave the challenge at Durbi, Jos East local government area of Plateau state during the thanksgiving service of a former Member representing Jos South/Jos East in the House of Representatives, Mr. Bitrus Kaze.

The cleric also urged politicians to have a heart of thanksgiving to God and not assumed that the feat they attain in life is due to their wisdom and power stating, “Hon. Kaze went to the National Assembly and came back in peace and he is giving thanks to God.

“Only those who depend on God can give thanks not those who are full of themselves. He stood for what is just and right during his tenure, politicians should emulate this and be selfless because this is acceptable to God and the electorates.”

He further pointed that “impatience is the major cause of corruption and Nigerians are not doing things wholeheartedly, no sincerity, hypocrisy and ulterior motives influence our actions but righteousness is a sure path to success.”

However, the celebrant, Mr. Kaze said the thanksgiving was “to appreciate God for his tenure at the National Assembly, safety through turbulent times, 15 years of marriage and the gradual return of peace on the Plateau.”

He stressed that he hated injustice and assured he will always stand against it in whatever form it comes.
