•Communication vital to effective leadership – Balogun, PiC, RCCG, Lagos Province 49

Redeemer’s Men Fellowship, RMF, of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has distributed bags of rice to widows. The gesture came at the grand finace of the Family Week, held at Peace House, Lagos Province 49 headquarters, Isheri – LASU Road, Lagos.

Speaking at the event tagged, Father of All, the Pastor -in- charge of the Province, Pastor Daniel A Balogun, said God is the Father of all and that everyone is a baby in the eyes of the Lord. He urged everyone to see himself  as a baby before God because a thousand years is like a day in His sight.

Guest Speaker and Coordinator, Region II of  the RMF, Pastor Ola Erogun, said God created everything on earth and, as such, deserves all the glory. The regional pastor emphasized the need for love and urged everyone to love one another because  “God  is love”. He described  ‘giving’ as the nitty-gritty of love and enjoined everyone to express love by giving out not just cash but also valuables.

Erogun  revealed that the program was especially for men whom he described  as builders, pace setters, coordinators, leaders, priests and kings because of the strategic roles they play in the family and  society at large.

Earlier in his address, the RMF Board President, Province 49, Engineer Kolawole Bello, thanked all present and prayed God to bless everyone and allow joy to go round everyone. In a brief chat, the President  explained that his executive would  ensure that men in the region are committed to serving God.

Assistant Pastor-in-charge of the Province, Pastor Olufemi Adebiyi, in his speech, noted that his task as Coordinator of the RMF in Province 49 is challenging but rewarding, attributing unhealthy competition amongst pastors to the failure to follow the manual of their calling, the Bible. He stated  that some pastors inject their personal interpretations into the Bible which God forbids, saying it is one of the signs of the end time. He advised Christians, particularly those working in the Lord’s vine yard, not to over rate or over bear.

The Pastor-in-charge of Province 49,  Pastor Balogun, said pastors operate at different levels because of individual differences as well as differences in maturity. This, according to him, could be further compounded by lack of understanding of what the leader wants. He  recommended  communication as the key to effective leadership and advised every pastor to be more committed to the work of God. The Pastor stressed that there was nothing as satisfying as God’s work. The high point of the event, which featured drama, comedy, special numbers, couples’ dancing competition, among others, was a family competition with a plot of land as star  prize. Pastor Balogun dismissed the insinuation that the church was engaging in lottery, saying it only  incorporated the family competition into the program as a way of assisting  families that may win the prizes.  Diya Adeola Taiwo (23), identified as a social entrepreneur, emerged the winner of  the  plot of land at Honeywells Garden, Agbara Phase III, Lagos, valued  at  N1.5m.
