A representative for the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Thailand has settled out of court after being accused of keeping his maid in slave-like conditions.

A 35-year-old housewife, Azeez Yemisi, on Tuesday urged an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court to dissolve her 15-year-old marriage to her husband, Kehinde, for alleged desertion, lack of care for her and the children. Yemisi, a resident of No. 10, Odo-Ado, Ado-Ekiti, told the court that whenever had no money, it was their neighbour that always assisted to transport her children to school.

The absence of five alleged masterminds of Nyanya and Kuje, Abuja, bomb attacks stalled hearing in the matter at the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday. The prosecution told the court that prison officials could not bring the suspects to court because of logistic problems. The five suspects are standing trial on five counts bordering on conspiracy and terrorism.

The Federal Government has inaugurated a 16-member committee to review the structure of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA) following the recent merger of some key ministries. Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, the Acting Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HOS), while inaugurating the committee on Tuesday in Abuja, said the action was critical to achieving the desired results.
