N1.5bn Dreamworld theme park will impact Nigeria tourism

The promoters of the Dreamworld Africana, an Amusement and Theme park located in Lekki-Ajah, Lagos, have promised to impact the country’s tourism landscape positively by the time the over N1.5 billion project is completed.

The project which was conceptualized about ten years ago with the acquisition of fairly large expanse of land is to bequeath Lagosians and Nigerians a world class Amusement and theme park.

The Acting Chairman of the holding company, Wale Mesioye, disclosed that with over N1 billion from equity holders invested into the project so far that by the time they expend the Bank of Industry’s facility in the range of N500 million that the dream of providing a complete entertainment city would have been met .

“About three years ago, we started operations with our “open Door’ offering, just a few Rides, but the plans were there for all to see. The large expanse of land, carefully laid out walk ways, lawns and ambience. We knew where we were going and today, we unveil to you the next steps in our plans.”

Wale Mesioye disclosed that there are plans to add more facilities and attractions like the the Go kart Arena, Mini Game Arcade and the Dinosaur Arena.

“In the coming months, additional facilities would include at least ten additional Rides, the Water Splash, 5D/7D Cinema, A Rail Walk Ride, Sporting facilities that will include Soccer, Lawn Tennis, Basket Ball, Beach Volley Ball, Indoor Ev nt Center, 4 Screen Cinema and many more. ”

He added that “other facilities that would be added later include a Technology Park/Shopping Mall, a Virtual Reality Center to give the great African Experiences and a Hotel.”

Wale Masioye said on completion the impact of the project on the Nigerian Tourism industry in general and Lagos State tourism industry in particular will be unquatifiable, “in the long run, we aim to establish Dreamworld Africana firmly in the Nigerian and global tourism annual Event Calendar.

“We envision visitors in their Tens and possibly hundreds of Thousands visiting the Park annually, with the economic benefits in both local and foreign currency.”

While noting that theme parks all over the world promote and celebrate the culture of host location, the acting Chairman said Dreamworld Africana will not only showcase the most exciting places to visit in Africa like the Mountain Kilimanjaro’s, Great Pyramids of Egypt, Victoria Falls among other places, but celebrate and showcase the culture of Nigeria.

He said they will be starting with the showcasing of the oil rich Delta State as part of their 23 Days of Christmas event.

“We want people to know what the state represents historically, economically and socially as we plan to bring together who-is who from Delta state here.

“The Delta Day/Dino Arena Lunch is a precursor to the annual event calendar we will be rolling our starting from next year. We plan to bring to Lagos one to two high profile events every month. Some of the Events include, Water Splash fair, Go-kart competition, Family fun Day, Jean Carnival among others,” he said.
