PORT HARCOURT— Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, Mr Bassey Dan-Abia, has called for collaboration between the commission and other stakeholders in the Niger Delta region to effectively develop the region.

Dan-Abia, who made the appeal, yesterday, during an interactive session with the media at the commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said that  Partners for Sustainable Development Forum, PSDF, was set to hold a two-day conference in collaboration with the commission on development related issues for the region.

He said the PSDF was a platform where development partners interact on matters to advance the fortunes of the region. The partners include multinational oil companies  and other stakeholders.

Mr Dan-Abia, who was flanked by the Executive Director, Project, Engr Omatsuli Tuoyo and the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Mr Henry Ogiri said, the commission lacks capacity to develop the region alone, stressing that there was room for others to contribute meaningfully.

He said that when they assumed office, they resolved not to run the commission on the pages of newspapers, adding that they chose to focus on the development of the region.
