Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, as he led a high-powered delegation of All Progressives Congress, APC, leaders and governors to the Kogi Central campaign rally of the party in support of its governorship candidate in the November 21 election, Prince Abubakar Audu.

Addressing a crowd at the rally, Osinbajo said the party was solidly behind Prince Abubakar Audu, saying Kogi State could not afford to remain under the control of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Osinbajo said: “I have brought the news of change to Kogi people. On behalf of Mr. President, I thank the people of this state for supporting us during the last general election.

“It is time to finish the good work you have started. It is time to hoist the flag of change in Lugard House.

“If you vote for our party, we will ensure rapid development of Kogi State and create jobs. Vote APC. Vote Prince Abubakar Audu.

“We are determined to ensure the iron and steel industry at Ajaokuta is optimized to feed our economy and also generate employment opportunities for the people.”

… as PDP women  endorse Wada

Meanwhile, women leader of PDP in Kogi State, Olori Margaret Orebiyi, has expressed confidence in the party’s chances of winning this month’s governorship election, assuring that women in the state will rise to the occasion by voting massively for Idris Wada.

Speaking to Vanguard in her office yesterday, Orebiyi said the governor had been gender sensitive in his appointments and empowerment programmes.

She said the women of the state had endorsed the governor for another term in office.

She said: “Since 2003, women of Kogi State have been occupying juicy positions. We have been given the opportunity to prove to the world that we can contribute meaningfully to societal development if given the opportunity to serve.

“No leader can succeed without women. PDP has recognized this and ensured that we are given opportunities.

“Among the major contenders, we know the candidate that respects women; it starts from the home front.

“We want to thank the governor and his wife for giving attention to issues that affect the womenfolk. Women in agriculture have never had it so good. The governor has given nets to our women and not fish.”

“Based on the foregoing, Kogi women have resolved to stand by the governor as we will want the transformation without noise to continue in our dear state.”

Orebiyi called on women in the state to secure their future by voting for Governor Wada, assuring that the governor was prepared to continue to empower Kogi women, regardless of their status and location.

Speaking in the same vein, a Senior Special Assistant to the governor, Mrs. Grace Ojo, said Yagba women were prepared to lead the voice of reason, equity and fairness by voting for Capt Idris Wada.

Her words: “After losing the Senate, the only thing left was the Deputy Governorship of the state. APC went ahead to pick another Ijumu man, leaving Yagba people in the cold. PDP has shown love to Yagba by picking one of us as deputy governorship candidate.

“If our men are not seeing this as a fight for pride, we will lead the fight. For the past four years, Capt. Idris Ichala Wada has continued to show us why many today are calling him the Transformation Engineer. His Deputy, Arc. Abayomi Awoniyi has also proven his mettle as a loyal and hardworking lieutenant. We are prepared to win with Wada.”

Edo  State governor, Adams Oshiomhole charged the teeming members of the party to vote out, a “sleeping pilot”, ostensibly referring to the governor of the state, Capt Idris Wada. He said the people of Kogi State will experience development under the leadership of the All Progressives Congress.

Also, the National Chairman of the party, Chief Odigie Oyegun, said APC had shown itself as a party worthy of trust.
