ASABA—The Senator representing Delta North senatorial district, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has insisted that the people of the district would do their eight years term in the governorship of the state irrespective of manipulations from some quarters.
Nwaoboshi in Asaba when members of the Ibuso Community Development Union, ICDU, paid him a courtesy visit, said Delta Central and South senatorial districts did their eight years “and Delta North must do its own eight years.”
He told the people to support the current government to succeed, adding “Some of us fought very hard to get the governorship for Delta North meaning that we have to protect and advise the government of the day adequately.”
Nwaoboshi, former state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said: “Delta North did not fight governors from the Central and South senatorial districts and nobody should fight or be an obstacle to the government of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.”
“The present government accepts criticism but it has to be constructive and I promise to do everything humanly possible to assist ICDU to succeed judging from the facts that the union unanimously agreed to support me in the course of my senatorial election,” he said.
Enjoining them to be united in their resolve to develop the Ibusa community, he said “We should all serve with an open mind. One day you shall get rewarded and God will elevate you. If you don’t serve you cannot be served. The fact that two senators who are from Ibusa are still alive is a grace from God. My people should be patient, you know I have over 1,000 communities under me in Ibusa and l have to satisfy all of them.”
Earlier, Chairman of ICDU, Mr Emmanuel Monyei, said they had given him their mandate and expressed the readiness of the group to continue to support him.
He said “When we are behind you, you can fight and fight. We shall continue to pray for you. You are still very young and as the only union to congratulate you after your victory, we shall not stop to be praying for you.”
