The state chairman of the party, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere who made the demand said  that disclosing the true financial state of Abia would enable the people to know the amount owed to banks and other financial institutions by the immediate past administration.

But in a swift reaction, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Gov Ikpeazu, Ugochukwu Emezue said the demand and accusation by APGA in the state were out of tune because the governor had at different fora said  he inherited assets and liabilities.

Emezue who urged APGA to engage in constructive criticism and support the governor’s efforts to develop the state, rather than playing to the gallery, added that all the issues raised by the party had  no basis, citing the $200m ADB loan which he said was  started by the previous administration and only concluded by the present government.

Ehiemere declared that the PDP-led government should as a matter of duty and responsibility; disclose the true financial state of the state, wondering  why workers of the state are being owed arrears of salary if the state’s financial position is healthy.

Describing some of the roads awarded by the state govern- ment for rehabilitation as “administrative somersault and well packaged deception,” the APGA chairman added that what the government could have done was to carry out palliative measures on majority of the roads, pending the end of rainy season.
