Campus cultism: Nigeria’s fast-ticking terrorists time bomb
IF media reports are anything to go by, cultism is alarmingly on the rise in tertiary and post-primary institutions in Nigeria, a development that has raised grave concerns in many quarters, prompting several calls on government to take urgent steps to stem the tide. Indeed it is said that many have lost their lives to campus terrorism, especially cult wars among rival groups, while several have dropped out of school without actualising their ambition and dreams.
What Legislators Don’t Earn
NIGERIANS have invested so much effort in discussing what legislators earn that the bigger question about what they do is rarely considered. This is not a debate on return on investment – if resources deployed to legislators could be so addressed – but an inquiry into what all arms of government do. Our grudges with legislators are mostly personal.
Unpaid salaries: SERAP drags states, FG to ILO
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has dragged state and the Federal Governments to International Labour Organisation (ILO), “requesting its Governing Body to, suo motu, and in its own capacity, establish without delay a commission of inquiry to examine systematic and egregious non-observance of Convention No 29 on Forced Labour and other international standards on the right of workers to timely payment of salaries.”

Apiculture’ll solve health, unemployment problems – Dr. Akunne
“I also made honey tonic wine which is more medicinal than the table wine. Other products are bee propolis which is even more medicinal than the honey people clamour for. So beekeeping/honey production is purely for economic empowerment especially for the youth and young entrepreneurs.”
Innoson slams N30 billion suit on GTBank
Nigeria’s first indigenous automobile manufacturer, Innoson Motors Nigeria Limited, has slammed a N30 billion suit against Guarantee Trust Bank, GTB, as a result of damages the company suffered following an ex parte order of Mareva Injunction, which GTB applied and obtained, freezing Innoson’s accounts in all the banks in Nigeria.
Governors: No bailout coming from anywhere
A survey has shown that Nigerian politicians, especially state governors, deliberately involve themselves in flagrant and ostentatious expenditure as a way to show off their class, without the knowledge that their action is responsible for the underdevelopment of the economy.

Tax holidays require sanitisation — FIRS boss
It is all about our common interest because we are all affected. If Nigeria does not have enough revenue, it would not be able to execute government programmes. But you know that the life line of the revenue source of this country is oil. If it does well, you would not know there is problem in all the other sectors. But how do you do effective tax administration in the face of the present tax system? A good tax system is based on the law, the policy and the administration.

Buhari’s non-interference in NASS affairs
IN ideal democracies which Nigeria is copiously adopting, the principle of separation of powers is one of the pillars on which such societies are built. Indeed, since they (judiciary, legislature and executive) exist independently, they are meant to perform the role of checks and balances. In doing so, they avoid encroaching on each other’s responsibilities and constitutionally assigned roles.

“The amount of money found in their different bank accounts and the worth of property disclosed by them, which is above their proven income, suggest that there is a strong case against them. “Although they complied with the EFCC when they were granted administrative bail, the same may not be said of them now that they know the gravity of what lies ahead,” he said.
APC: The unresolved issues
Some weeks before the recent presidential election, a former governor in the frontline of the campaign of the All Progressives Congress, APC reportedly went to the Lagos home of a national leader of the party and prostrated before him, begging him that they should not quarrel over some then emerging issues. The leader had acquiesced as both men resolved to paper over the issues between them and focus on the main target of forcing out their common enemy, that is, President Goodluck Jonathan out of office. Now, having successfully uprooted the vagaries of President Jonathan and his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP from power, those issues that were papered over have now been exposed as the new ruling party seeks albeit with much frustration to forge a common ground.
CBN and the n8bn scam (2)
The story went on to reveal that what started as an N8 billion scam had escalated to N12 billion scandal. Most probably, that might not even be the end of the story. Most likely other discoveries or revelations will increase the amount and how long the economic sabotage had been going on within the banking system – with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, as the epicenter of this financial war against Nigeria by a few ndividuals in the banking sector.
