PDYM seeks end to litigations in Delta State

The Pan-Delta Youth Movement, PDYM has called on opposition political parties in Delta State to accept the wishes of the electorate who voted overwhelmingly for the Peoples Democratic Party by shelving needless litigations at the election tribunal.

In the course of a post-mortem analysis of the April 11th Gubernatorial election, the group lamented the incessant litigations instituted by opposition candidates to contest the outcome of an election adjudged by local and international observers as been free, fair and credible; a situation which oftentimes slow down the pace of development in the state.

The convener of the Group, Mr. Augustine Tete, while underlining the preparedness of PDYM to partner with the incoming administration, stated that the era of pursuing vain litigations are long gone and that there is need for all Deltans irrespective of political leanings to close rank with the State Governor-Elect in pushing forward the development strides of the outgoing administration.

Earlier on, technical consultant of the body, Michael Tidi had stressed the preference of the PDYM for cooperation rather than confrontation, stating that ”In the emergence of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, what we witnessed in Delta State was nothing short of remarkable with ever more voters casting their ballots freely and fairly, chiefly thanks to Delta youths who spared no sacrifice in ensuring that the state is now fortunate enough to enjoy the purposeful leadership which Okowa has come to exemplify.

”He is coming to the position of Executive Governor with a robust knowledge of the “African Youth Charter”, which encapsulates the rights, freedoms and obligations of youths in Africa.

He stated that the case as instituted by the opposition is not tenable, and that all stakeholders will have to come together for the concise development of the state. He assured the youths that the incoming administration is committed to the aspiration of ensuring youth participation in governance at all levels by way of affirmative action.
