The pageant was organised by the current Miss United Nations International, Precious Chikwendu, to serve as platform for discovering beautiful and intelligent Nigerians that will represent the country in the 2015 edition of Miss United Nations Pageant holding in Kingston, Jamaica in July.

Call for entries was made early this year at a World Press Conference, where the organizers listed criteria for winning the contest. It was also announced that the pageant was opened for ladies between the ages of 19 and 29 while rooms would be created for married women between the ages of 30 and 60 years to also enter for the contest.

Recall that Chikwendu who is also an actress upon winning Miss United Nations Pageant last year, had sought and secured a franchise to host Miss United Nations (Nigeria) contest in the name of her Non-Governmental Organization – Snow Heart Foundation.

The Anambra State-born actress-turned-beauty queen said, the aim of Miss United Nations Nigeria Pageants is to give young women the opportunity to come together in a pageant setting regardless of their background and build relationships with fellow women from across the country who are working diligently to impact positively on their communities.

“As Miss United Nations Nigeria, delegates come together and share their community volunteer projects, ideas and goals with one another, they become unified as pageant sisters in the United Nations Pageants Family.

“This sisterhood strengthens them to see beyond their immediate surroundings and situations and extends their services across the globe. As each delegate shares ideas of how she serves her community, more women would be strengthened and edified because their paths have crossed for good.”

The competition lasted several hours as household names in the entertainment industry took turns to entertain guests. At the end of the show, winners emerged in different categories. Aside Nnamani who clinched Miss United Nations title, other winners include former Nigeria TV Presenter, Jacquelyn Madu, who was crowned Miss Teen United Nations 2015.

Others are Ms Nigeria United Nations, Tubosoye C. Dokubo, Miss Tourism United Nations, Kessy Isong, as well as Mrs. Nigeria United Nations, Enemchukwu Ebelechukwu. Besides prizes which include cash and brand new cars, winners would be representing the country in the broader contest later in the year. Speaking at the end of the event, Chikwendu confessed that it was not an easy journey to victory.
