Lagos— A businessman, Charles Ndubusi, 25, and a sales representative, Amos Stephen, 26, were yesterday docked before a Lagos magistrate’s court, sitting at Igbosere for allegedly buying 30 stolen phones.
The defendants were arraigned before Magistrate J. O. Adepoju.
They are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing preferred against them by the police.
The prosecutor, Inspector Raji Akeem, told the court that the defendants conspired amongst themselves to commit the alleged offences between January 13 and May 9.
He said the first defendant bought various types of stolen phones worth N484,000, from the second defendant.
Akeem said the incident took place at Akinyemi Shopping Complex, Ajah Market along Epe Expressway.
The prosecutor said the second defendant stole eight pieces of Samsung phones valued N138,000; four pieces of BlackBerry phones, N58,000; one Sony LT181 phone, N14,000; 14 pieces of Techno phones, N339,000 and three Nokia phones valued N17,000 belonging to one Oyibe Isreal, who was his employer.
Magistrate Adepoju granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till June 9 for mention.
