The emergence of Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (rtd) as President-elect, on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, notwithstanding, the Urhobo nation, yesterday, said it will ignore a plot by some elites to dump the candidate of the Labour Party, Chief Great Ogboru, for that of the APC, Chief O’tega Emerhor, as the new consensus candidate of the ethnic group.
According to an Urhobo youth leader, Chief Precious Daniel, the Urhobo nation’s stand of not shifting ground from its support for Ogboru came from their resolution that the Urhobo support for Ogboru is not on party basis but on the individual’s unwavering popularity across the three senatorial districts.
In a chat with newsmen on the inconclusive nature of the meeting that would have nailed the scheming of the Urhobo elites, the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, President General, Chief Joe Omene, said there was no response yet as they were still in crucial discussion to take a final decision on the issue before the governorship election on Saturday.
Meanwhile, some top leaders in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are said to be moving to APC in order to seek relevance before Saturday polls.
