ASABA—THE Accord Party in Delta State has warned that it would pull out of the understanding it has with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state if the PDP does not desist from denying the alliance between them.

BENIN—ANGRY youths, yesterday, crippled activities at Protea Hotel, Benin, following the death of a 26-year-old boy, identified as Chibuike Edeh, an indigene of Enugu State, in the custody of the police at the area command in the state capital. The deceased, who was a staff of the hotel, was alleged to have stolen N42,000 from a guest and was handed over to the police at Area Command, Sapele Road, by the Chief Security Officer of the hotel last Friday.

Lagos State Police Command has arrested four members of a kidnapping gang in Lagos. The suspects, identified as Edet Ekuno, 32; Sunday Samiga, 24; Hope Okon, 27; and Unuagbon Isaiah, 31, were apprehended after the command received intelligence report on their activities.

INVESTORS, yesterday, lost N363.5 billion as value of stocks on the Nigerian Stock Exchange market, (market capitalisation) declined by 2.75 per cent to N9.987 trillion from N10.250 trillion on Friday. Operators stated that major loses recorded by the banking sub sector contributed significantly to push down market capilisation. The market capitalisation represents the total value of shares traded on the exchange.

CALABAR—A long-drawn-out land squabble between Kasuk Qua and Ikpai Qua clans in Calabar, Cross River State, has claimed the life of a 21-year-old villager, Asuquo Duke with many others wounded. Niger Delta Voice gathered that hostilities broke out between the two communities at a sand quarry in Ikot Uduak, last week. Counsel to Kasuk Qua, Barrister Orok Ironbor, stated that fight erupted following the contravention of a subsisting Zone Six Police Command order barring the contending from the land in contention, which was allegedly infringed by the Ikpai people, who kept on excavating sand from the pit located on the land.

The crude oil spill from Seibou well in Bayelsa State operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, has been traced to a ruptured pipeline.
