AKWA Ibom indigenes in the United Kingdom, UK, have thrown their weight behind the candidacy of the governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Mr Udom Emmanuel.
The group, Akwa Ibom Consolidation Alliance, ACA, said that the qualities and experiences of Mr Emmanuel prove that he knows what it entails to ensure a re-engineering of key sectors of the state’s economy in order to move it away from absolute reliance on oil revenues.
Addressing newsmen, Coordinator of the group, Mr Imoh Umoetuk, said that the emergence of Mr Emmanuel as the flag-bearer of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State has attracted a number of UK companies to partner the group to establish profitable ventures in the state.
He said: “Supporting Udom was an easy choice based on his credentials, achievements, and past antecedents in the private sector. His track records in the management of human and material resources make the group confident that Udom will not only maintain the continuity and sustainability of the present development of the state but will also add value to the well-being of Akwa Ibom people.”
