THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ekiti State is prepared towards conducting a free ,fair and acceptable election for both the presidential  and subsequent elections

According to the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ekiti State , Mr Sam Olumekun said the commission was undertaking a refresher training for ad-hoc officials

Speaking through the Public Relations Officer of the commission in Ekiti State,Alhaji Taiwo Gbadegesin said the commission was fully prepared for the exercise

“Since the Batch A corp members have left we need to argument for the staff ,since there is no assurance that the Batch A we trained would come back for the exercise

He said the commission is embarking on the sensitization and awareness programme in both the radio and television to educate the electorate on how to go about to perform their civic duties

According Gbadegesin ,he said the last stakes holders meeting before the election will hold on 25 of this month where they would meet with the relevant stakes holders on how to sustain peace in the state before,during and after the elections

He said the commission was still consulting with the leading traditional institutions in the state  on how they would talk to their subjects on how “to play the game according to its rules

“We are awaiting for the arrival of sensitive materials i e ballot papers and election result sheets which is to be deposited with the CBN,Ado Ekiti

On the collection of PVC ,Gbadegesin disclosed that the commission has distributed up to 70 percent of PVC. Ie that out of 732,166 PVC that only 512,000 has so far been distributed.

On the use of smart card readers,INEC image maker said it would not pose problem for voters ,since there would be a provision of Incident Form to be filled for those  the card reader failed to authenticate them after their  verification.

On the fear being entertained by the electoral body,Gbadegesin regretted that most of the politicians are not cooperating with the commission on the need to bring about the desired peace in the state.
