BENIN—CONTRARY to the assertion by the Edo State Government that Ward leaders of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ukpato Ward in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, 11 of the 12- member Ward executive, yesterday, denounced the claim, saying that no other member of the executive defected along with the Ward chairman to the APC.

The Ukpato PDP Ward leaders, who stormed the state secretariat of the party on Sapele Road, were led by the Secretary, Mr. Anthony Izevbigie.

Speaking for his colleagues, Mr. Izevbigie said that they had no intention of leaving PDP for APC and would remain in the party to ensure that it emerges victorious in the forthcoming elections.

His view was corroborated by others who said that the Ward chairman, Mr. Vincent Aiwekhoe, was on his own just as the Youth leader, Mr. Omorodion claimed that the Ward chairman has been using them.
