The Rivers State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has condemned the attempt on the life of a party stalwart, Engr. Chukwudi Dimkpa, by gunmen at his residence in Agip Housing Estate, Rumueme, Port Harcourt.

A statement by Jerry Needam, media aide to the state PDP Chairman, Mr. Felix Obuah, said four armed men had in the early hours of Saturday, February 21, attacked Dimkpa, who narrowly survived the attack and is now recuperating at a private hospital in Port Harcourt.

It said: “PDP believed that this incident was orchestrated by All Progressives Congress, APC,” urging police to up its surveillance and monitor the activities of APC, which it said was bent on truncating the forthcoming elections.
