Wike and Amaechi
Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Mr Nyesom Wike, has berated the state gogernor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, for allegedly canceling the trans-Kalabari link road.
Speaking at a PDP governorship campaign rally in Buguma, Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Wike said that Amaechi’s termination of the road project had negatively impacted on the economy of Kalabariland.
He said: “The Trans-Kalabari link road started by ex- Governor Peter Odili was cancelled by the outgoing Amaechi administration. That singular act negatively affected the Kalabari economy.
“When we take over governance on May 29, the construction of the trans- Kalabari link road will be given priority. I will dutifully revive the Kalabari economy, using this road as a stepping stone.”
He noted that he will invest in the sand-filling of the area and the reclamation of land in Asari Toru council, adding that he will execute the shore-line protection project for Asari-Toru council and rebuild the dilapidated General Hospital, Buguma.
He said that the people of Kalabari will benefit from his administration as his running mate, Dr. Ipalibo Banigo, will play a vital role in the growth of the state.
Former Rivers PDP governorship aspirant, Chief Ibinabo Michael-West, declared that Wike’s emergence will lead to a PDP victory in the state.
A Kalabari PDP leader, Ambassador Sogboma Jackriss, alias Egberipapa, said that his group had agreed to work with Wike for the total victory of PDP.
Another Kalabari leader, Chief George Kelly assured that Asari Toru people were united behind Wike and PDP for victory at all levels.
