After joining the call for Keshi’s departure as Super Eagles Head Coach, former assistant Coach of the Super Eagles, Joe Erico has said it was only natural that Keshi called it quits after the failure to qualify Nigeria for the 2015 Afcon.

Yes, I only said so for him to save his face. He is an accomplished guy, who to me has done well in his chosen career. I think it’s time he left the Eagles and look ahead because the insult is getting too much.”

He said his advice to Keshi was based on the fact that life is not stagnant. “If he based his sticking to the job on the President’s request that he continued, does he think the President will remain there forever?” Erico asked.

“The best thing to happen to him is that he should quit. The insult is getting too much,” Erico said repeatedly, adding, “if a white man can quit, why can’t he?”
