What led to the establishment of a peaceful and most successful Islamic society during and after the life of Prophet Muhammad, (s.a.w) were his behaviour and exceptionally good characters.
Michael H. Hart in his book entitled: “The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History”, a 1978 book by Michael H. Hart, reprinted in 1992 with revisions asserted that Muhammad was supremely successful in everything.
Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) was so well behaved with other people, that everyone praised his behaviour. He forgave others even when he had the power to punish the offender.
During his visit to Taif in the late 619 C.E., 70 miles in the south-east of Makkah, he called on the three chiefs of the local tribes, and invited them to abandon their gross idolatry, to acknowledge the Oneness of God, to repudiate man-made distinctions of high and low, and to believe in the equality and brotherhood of all men.
The chiefs of Ta’if were conceited and arrogant crew, and they did not want even to listen to Muhammad (s.a.w). They greeted him with mockery and ridicule and set upon him the tough out of the city. They pelted him and Zaid bin Haritha who went with him with stones.
The team were wounded and covered with blood. Muhammad (s.a.w) staggered out of Ta’if, he almost collapsed but a certain gardener took him into his hut, treated his wounds, and gave him a rest until he felt strong enough to resume his journey across the rough terrain between Ta’if and Makkah.
Muhammad (s.a.w) supplicated to Allah and then they moved on towards Makkah. Angel Jibril came to the Prophet (s.a.w) with the angel in charge of mountains and asked the prophet that if he so wished, he would command the Angel of mountains to bury the city between two mountains.
Although the prophet (s.a.w) had suffered a great deal in the hands of these people, he replied that may be their offspring would accept Islam and would proclaim the religion of truth. Due to the kind nature of Muhammad (s.a.w), the city was saved from destruction.
