A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Mahmud Yayale Ahmed said the present administration has made remarkable strides in the power sector road map, which set the tone for reforms in power.

Ahmed who was a special guest during the launching of books written by the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Power, Ambassador Godknows Igali in Abuja, said that the successful privatisation of the successor companies of the defunct Power Holding Company, PHCN was a practical demonstration of commitment of President Jonathan transformation agenda on power.

Ahmed who is also former head of service said that for the progress made by the federal government to be sustainable, there is need for Nigerians to embrace peace in the polity.

Presenting the books titled: “Perspectives on Nation State Formation in Contemporary Africa and Global Trend in State Formation: An Enquiry into the Origin, Survival and Demise of State”, an Elder statesman Edwin Clarke said that the present political situation in Nigeria demands that Nigerian political class to continue emphasising issues that hold the country together rather than divisive tendencies.

He predicted that the current security challenge facing the country would soon be history if all hand are on deck to find a lasting solution to it.

Speaking on what motivated him to write the books, the Author, Ambassador Igali said that the challenge of state formation and national integration is evident; while the need for solution is even more demanding in places like Africa where nation states were formed under very special historical circumstances.

The books addressed colonial rule, African nationalism and decolonialism and analysed the process of nation-state formation in post-independent Africa from the perspective of political system and ideologies.
