BENIN—ONE of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lawmakers in Edo State, Mr. Rasak Momoh, was last night attacked by unknown persons at his residence in the legislators quarters, Benin.
He was allegedly left for dead by his attackers.
Momoh, who represents Etsako I constituency in the House of Assembly, is currently receiving medical attention at the Accident and Emergency Ward of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH.
A close member of his family, who pleaded anonymity, told newsmen that the injuries sustained by the lawmaker were such that he might be flown abroad for treatment.
The lawmaker was expelled at the height of the crisis rocking the state House of Assembly, which is now factionalised along PDP and All Progressives Congress, APC, lines.
It would be recalled that Razaq, while speaking at the sitting of PDP legislators on Monday, September 29, raised an alarm that his life was in danger.
Contacted on phone, Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Noble Uwoh, asked for time to check with the DPO in charge of the area.
Edo State Police Commissioner, Folunso Adebanjo, who expressed shock, said some persons had been arrested and that the police was investigating the matter.
