Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of an Ikeja High Court, yesterday, granted separate trial to one Mrs. Oluronke Rosulu, accused of allegedly aiding Lagos lawyer, Fred Ajudua, to defraud former Chief of Army Staff, General, Ishaya Bamaiyi (retd), of $8.3 million while he was in prison.
Ipaye’s ruling was sequel to an application made by Rosulu’s lawyer, Mr. Bamidele Ogundele, who filed an application seeking to separate her charges from those of Mr. Ajudua.
The court granted Rosulu’s application on the grounds that she had the right to separate her trial and that she had made a case for meritorious hearing.
Rosulu, until her suspension, was a Registrar with Justice Olubunmi Oyewole who was handling Bamaiyi’s case in Ikeja High Court before he was set free.
Arguing the application, Ogundele hinged his position on the delay being suffered by the case, which he said had affected her client who had been suspended by Lagos State Judicial Service Commission.
