Rivers guber: DPP commended on zoning

By GBENGA OKE

Rivers South-East Renaissance Movement, RISERM, has commended the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, in Rivers State for zoning its governorship ticket to the Rivers South-East senatorial district.

RISERM, a social political organisation, in a statement said DPP had demonstrated its willingness to listen to the voice of the Rivers people as 2015 gubernatorial election gets closer.

The group said “It is important to state that since Rivers State was created in 1967 no person from the Rivers South-East has become governor of the state.
“The senatorial district has always supported other senatorial districts to produce the governor of Rivers State. So, equity and justice demands that we all go in their direction this time. That is exactly what DPP has done.

“We are elated by the action of the DPP and wish to appeal to the leadership of the All Progressive Congress, APC and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP at all levels to emulate the patriotic and brotherly act of DPP,” the statement said.

Coordinator of the group, Dornu Barida Nwinang, said: “Zoning governorship ticket by political parties to the Rivers South-East senatorial district will go a long way to create unity.”
