The outgoing executive of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) Mosimi Depot, has denied an allegation by one Mr. Adeleke Dada that, it misappropriated N500 million belonging to the association.
Speaking through its lawyer, Mr. Yinka Oyetunde, in Lagos yesterday, the association described the allegation as malicious, spurious, a tissue of lies and a cheap blackmail to drag the names of the executive members into the mud.
The allegation, the lawyer explained, could not be substantiated by any fact or document by the said Mr. Dada against the outgoing executive and asked Mr Dada to explain how he got the N500 million he referred to in the said publication.
Mr. Oyetunde from Gazzallo and Co, a firm of legal practitioners, Ikeja, referred to a news story of Friday, September 5, 2014 in which Mr. Dada claimed to have been elected as new chairman of Mosimi Depot of the association.
He said the purported election was unlawful and therefore Mr. Dada has no locus standi to speak or act for the association.
According to him, “Alhaji Dele Tajudeen Lamidi is still the authentic and bonafide chairman of the IPMAN Mosimi Depot whose tenure would end in October this year and not Adeleke Dada.”
He called on members of the public to disregard the said publication, stressing that the national body authorised by law to organise the election had no hand in the election.
“Therefore, Mr. Dada should stop parading himself as the chairman of IPMAN Mosimi Depot forthwith,” Oyetunde warned.
