Lagos — Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, and governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, are expected at this year’s Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria, SCGN, annual conference, with the CBN governor delivering the keynote address.
The conference, billed for Friday, September 19, 2014, in Lagos, is titled “Leadership & Governance in the Public Sector.”
Head Programmes, Mrs. Hilda Nkor, said in a statement yesterday that the conference would discuss the practice of corporate governance in the public sector, its effect on businesses and the Nigerian economy at large, saying that the challenges of leadership in public sector governance in Nigeria will also be discussed.
“Recent events in corporate Nigeria, especially in the public sector, have brought to the front burner, the crucial issues of ethical behaviour, responsibility and accountability by public office holders to the nation and its citizenry.
