GENERAL Secretary, Egbema Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation, Mr. Jude Ukori has queried the rationale behind plans by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to create 8,412 additional polling units for the South, against 21,615 additional polling units proposed for the North.
Speaking with journalists in Warri, Delta State, Ukori said the plan indicates that the Prof. Atahiru Jega-led INEC was calling for a division of the country, noting, “INEC has been known for doing good jobs in the past but this one is unacceptable because it is a ploy to further marginalise the South politically if allowed. Hence it should be reverted immediately. The proposal is a baseless anomaly that is unacceptable.”
He added that the plan was a grand conspiracy to divide the country, as it was intended to give the Northern region a clear advantage over the Southern part of the country.
Ukori, a public commentator, maintained that Prof. Jega, has already lost his credibility and called for his immediate sack.
