ABUJA—Crisis is looming in the Cross River State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, following an alleged gang-up to stop the Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, from returning to senate in 2015.

It was gathered that the PDP leadership in the state, including the state government had concluded plans to change the existing zoning formular for political positions especially in the Central senatorial district to favour the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, Mr. John Enoh, who is said to be their candidate.

An aggrieved PDP member, who spoke to Vanguard on condition of anonymity, noted that what exists in the party for now was the peace of a grave yard, adding that soon, the party will explode as a result of what he termed the politics of hatred and exclusion going on within the party.

He said “The fact that there is peace does not mean there is no problem. It’s more like graveyard peace. It does not mean there is no problem. What happens is that even people who are not happy with the way things are in the party are afraid to speak out, so that they are sidelined and victimised. They are suppressed by the powers that be.”

It was gathered that the state Chairman of the party, Ntufam John Okon, had on August 8 announced caucus leaders for all the local government areas, consisting of some who have never held executive positions in the party and those that just left the opposition parties.

The composition according to sources was to stop those perceived not to be in the good books of the party’s hierarchy from contesting any positions in forthcoming elections, no matter their prominence or achievements.
