Attorney General, others to stage rally for him

Ahead of the 2015 gubernatorial election, the acting governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Garba Umar, has begun moves to consolidate himself on the reins of power and give him an edge over potential contestants in the governorship race of the state.
To achieve his political ambition, the governor had raised a formidable political team headed by the Attorney General of the state, Mr. Musa Tende, and other top cabinet members to work for his election in the coming year.
Vanguard learnt last night that Musa Tende had concluded plans to lead a team of top government officials to stage a rally in Takum in support of the governorship ambition of Umar.
But in this latest move, Umar’s committee made up of prominent members of his cabinet from the zone, seeks to counter the power shift agitations.
Apart from Tende, who heads the committee, others on the pro- Umar team include Commissioner of Information, Ate Sale Kundu; Commissioner of Education, Danfulani Kwetaka; Mr. Sam Adda and Rev. Emmanuel Godobi.
Others are Hon. Ahidjo Musa, Zakari Adimbo, Apura Polycarp, Habu Magaji and Orchiv Orbee.
The committee had reportedly been charged to assemble 200 delegates from each local government in the southern zone to attend a rally in which Umar would be declared the preferred candidate in the 2015 polls.
The group had also been mandated to counter any pro- power shift agitation.
A source close to the development said Umar was alarmed last Saturday when many groups insisted on power shift to the southern zone during a visit to Takum to attend the birthday reception of Mr. Darius Ishaku.
This development was said to have irked Umar, who promptly set out to counter the growing agitation.
