ABAKALIKI — Ebonyi State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday, called for the impeachment of Governor Martin Elechi for alleged incompetence, gross financial misconduct, reckless borrowing, loss of focus and abysmal performance.

Briefing newsmen on the prolonged crisis rocking the State House of Assembly and Governor Elechi’s performance, secretary of the party, Mr. Bernard Ebele, said the only person eligible to be impeached was the governor.

According to him, impeachment process against the Governor should commence with immediate effect.
He said: “The members of Ebonyi State House of Assembly should stop victimising themselves and come together to enact laws that would move Ebonyi State forward. The most eligible person to be impeached is the governor of Ebonyi State.

”The axe of impeachment should descend on Elechi for imcompetence, gross misconduct, reckless borrowing, loss of focus, abysmal performance and presence of uncompleted projects.”
Ebele, who is also the State Coordinator of Sam4Nigeria Campaign Organisation, stated that the governor had imposed the four vices of starvation, taxation, deprivation and victimisation on the people of Ebonyi State.

He added that for over seven years, the governor was yet to complete and commission any single project in the state.
“Ochudo city and International market are yet to be completed, likewise Oferekpe water scheme. The road leading to the House of Assembly is in a deplorable state,” he added.
