Muslim faithful have been advised to work more towards Islamic empowerment which forbids interest on loans, gambling, and uncertainty.
This was the message of Dr. Jubril Salaudeen, at an annual lecture tagged “Islamisation of Financial Empowerment and its Sustainability” organised by the Olabisi Onabanjo University Muslim Alumni OOUMA held at the school main campus in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State recently. The speaker during his lecture outlined that Ribba (interest), gambling (maysir), and uncertainty(gharar) are the reasons while most financial institutions have failed to achieve the purpose for its creation.
He advised all Muslims to be a change agent in Islam and join hands to bring Islam to every household. “Muslims constitutes only 20% of the total work force in Nigeria and this figure will not bring the empowerment needed to promote Islam”.
The vice chancellor, Prof. Saburi A. Adesanya also enjoined all Alumni of the school especially the Muslim faithfuls to be of good behaviour as ambassadors of the school and also do more to the development of Islam and the society.
President of the association, Barrister Adekola Kareem, in his remarks assured the public that his administration will constitute a solid source of moral, financial and spiritual inspiration to OOU branch of Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, MSSN. His words, “this Muslim association has been a sold support and work rigorously to the growth of Islam since its creation and I also want to use this medium to reassure the public that my administration will remain a a solid source of moral, financial and spiritual inspiration to OOU branch of MSSN and other organs of the society in Nigeria”.
