ABUJA—The Association of Federal Public Service Retirees, AFPSR, has cried to the Federal Government to reinstate Dr. Abdulrasheed Maina’s Pension Reform Task Force Team, PRTT, alleging fresh looting of funds earmarked for them.

The group noted that PRTT was the only credible body to salvage the sector from what it described as alarming increase in the looting of funds originally earmarked for their payment.
In a letter written to President Goodluck Jonathan, with reference number AFPSR-ADM2/72 and dated July 17, by its National President, Chief Emmanuel Omoyeni, the group said from its records and from observations, it was only Dr. Maina’s task force that could again clean up the fresh mess.

Omoyeni said they realised that there was no tangible reason for the disbandment of the PRTT which, he said, had provided permanent solution to pensioners’ ordeal and succeeded in tracking down and recovering stolen pension funds/property which ran into billions of Naira.

Calling for immediate reinstatement of Dr. Maina, the group expressed worry that the looting era had suddenly resurfaced, regretting that while the Maina-led PRTT was successfully ongoing, the Senate Pension Committee abruptly came in and disbanded the result-oriented team, a development faulted by the Federal High Court in a case Maina versus Senate, ruled in favour of the Task Team Chairman.

While expressing fears that Maina’s unlawful removal was a script written by indicted pension thieves, the group urged the President to immediately bring back Maina in the interest of dying and voiceless pensioners.
