Prostitution is commonly defined as the conscious  exchange  of sexual favours by non sentimental, affective interests or pleasure.

It usually happens when someone pays money in order to get sexual intercourse with another person, but the deal is not only this one.

The prostitution act can also be paid with material goods, information, personal advantages and others. Even though prostitution is more commonly practiced by women, we cannot ignore that there is a large number of men that also does it.

In addition to understand that a prostitute somehow benefits from sex, we must realize that when talking about a prostitute, we usually refer to an adult person.(In Brazil, from the age of 18 years old) that is capable to decide what to do to her own body and consciously decides to prostitute herself.

It is because of that main idea that, in Brazil, we shouldn’t talk about children or teenagers prostitution. As they are not yet considered adults, they don’t have the ability to fully and consciously  decide about their actions. That  is the reason why Brazilian Law protects them.

According to Brazilian Law, prostitution is not itself a crime. It isn’t an illegal activity: in 2002, the sex professional has been recognized as a regular occupation by Brazilian authorities(It was included in the Brazilian Labour and in other words: every adult person in Brazil is free to do whatever he or she wants to his or her body. So, if someone decides to become a prostitute, this person is not committing any crime, neither the clients.

Actually, there is a crime when someone tries to take advantage of someone else’s prostitution. So, regardless the way it happens, sexual exploitation is always a crime in Brazil. Notice: to promote prostitution, to induce someone to become a prostitute, to hire people to work as prostitutes, to maintain places where prostitutes offer themselves to their clients or to live at the expense of prostitutes are examples of conducts considered crime and they will be punished from 01 to 08 years in prison.

Nigerians rise against         Nigerians

Failure they say is not the only punishment. There is also the success of others. Perhaps, the success of other teams in the World Cup have pitched Journalists against aggrieved Nigerians who reside in downtown Brazil in Republican in Sao Paulo.

These irate Nigerians have threatened to vent their anger on Nigerian Journalists who have made Nigerian food vendors to increase their prices. One was so bitter that he asked what we were still doing in Brazil after the Eagles crashed out.

‘’Please, carry this your rope(referring to our accreditation tags) and go home. Since you people came, these women have increased their food prices. Before you came, we eat once a day because the quantity was much. Since you came, we now eat three times because nwanyi Enugu(Enugu woman) has slashed the food to make gains from you, thereby punishing us”, they chorused.
