UGHELLI—AHEAD of the forthcoming local government elections in Delta State, the state Organising Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Willie Ashubu, has stressed the need for the Uvwie council chairmanship position to be zoned to Ekpan.

Ashubu said it was time the Ekpan people were allowed to govern the local government area.

He said every part of the local government area should be given the opportunity to administer the area, adding that the PDP umbrella was big enough to accommodate all stakeholders.

Meanwhile, Burutu women, under the auspices of Burutu Progressive Ladies Forum, BPLF, a social political organisation led by Mrs Timi Arekumor and Mrs Timotubo Gesi-Ere, yesterday, promised to mobilise support for Chief Ebikeme Clark, a local government chairmanship hopeful in Burutu council.

Addressing newsmen, Mrs Timi Arekumor said Burutu women were resolute in their resolve to support Chief Ebikeme Clark, son of Chief Edwin Clark because “of his vigour, passion for his people as he has shown readiness to transform Burutu.

“As mothers, we will mobilise our fellow women from all the communities in the council, and equally our husbands and our children to massively vote for Ebikeme Clark in the forthcoming local government elections because we need a change for the better.”
