The Kuje Area Council Chairman, Mr Shaban Tete, has called on Muslims to embrace peace as they mark the Eid-el-Fitri celebration.
The chairman made the call in his Sallah message to the residents of the area.
He said that the Muslims in Kuje have been known to be peace loving people.
Tete urged them to continue with the good gesture for a peaceful co-existence in the area.
“Our Muslim brothers have shown that they are good, gentle and peaceful people and they should continue in that spirit.
“A day after tomorrow which is Sallah, should be celebrated in a peaceful atmosphere for the development of the area.
“When we have the fear of Allah, everything will work as our heart desire, so my message to them is to embrace peace and be their brother’s keeper.’’
Tete said that the residents should celebrate the Sallah without any fear or intimidation as all security measures had been put in place for the celebration.
According to him, a security meeting was held with all the security personnel in the council.
At the meeting, he said a strategic arrangement was made for the protection of lives and property during the celebration.
“We had a security meeting today, all security challenges were looked at and the necessary measures put in place.
“This Sallah is for us to celebrate and any breach of peace will not be tolerated by the security personnel.
“The security men will be at alert and ready to curtail any breach of security during the celebration,’’ Tete said. (NAN)
