As part of her corporate social responsibility towards enhancing maternal and child health, Dana Drugs Limited, earlier this week, de-wormed about 5,0000 school children in Kano State.
The three-day event flagged-off by the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was conducted in collaboration with the Kano State Ministries of Health and Education as part of activities marking the year 2014 Maternal and Child Health Care Day. This is as the de-worming of under five children is notably one of the intervention points of maternal and child health care.
Pupils of three primary schools benefited from the exercise with Wormidan (albendazole) tablets/suspensions. These were Kawo Cikin Gari Primary School from Nassarawa Local Government Area; Kwalli Primary School from Kano Municipal Local Government Area and Maikalwa Special Primary School from Kumbotso Local Government Area.
According to the National Marketing Manager, Dana Drugs Limited, Mr. P N Murthy; the Kano Branch Manager, Mr K.S.Khiani and the SP of Kano branch, Kabiru L Muhammad, the event was the fourth in the company’s series of nation-wide school-based de-worming project which began in 2013 with Osun, Lagos and Niger states.
The exercise which featured the presentation of customised gifts to the pupils was preceded by a lecture on child health.
