Gusau — The Zamfara House of Assembly, yesterday, denied any rift between it and the state government.
The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Alhaji Tukur Jekada, said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Gusau that speculations on the matter were mere fabrications.
NAN reports that rumours were rife in the state of “serious stand off” between the two arms of government.
“There is no truth in these speculations, and I will say it is mere rumour and diversionary as we have no problem with the executive arm of government in the state.
“The assembly is not sitting at the moment because members have gone on special duties to their various constituencies.
“The lawmakers returned from recess on March 31, they immediately proceeded to their respective constituencies to monitor the distribution of Hajj seats to intending pilgrims of 2014,” he said
Similarly, the Minority Leader of the House, Malam Ahmad Dole said “the allegation is the handiwork of detractors and enemies of democracy”.
Dole advised the people to discountenance the rumours, assuring that the assembly would continue to encourage the governor to provide quality leadership in the state.
