Yenagoa—Bayelsa State deputy governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha Jonah (rtd), has called on the people of Opokuma clan to support the new paramount ruler, His Royal Majesty, King Okpoitari Diongoli.
Speaking at Opokuma town in Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area of the state, during the coronation of King Diongoli, the deputy governor said that the people of Opokuma were lucky to have a king who is educated and exposed.
Congratulating King Diongoli on his election and coronation, he implored him to leverage on his robust background to attract development to the clan.
He also called on youths of Opokuma clan to be law abiding and build their capacities so that they can compete effectively with their peers in other parts of the state and the country.
In his acceptance speech, King Diongoli, thanked the people of Opokuma for the confidence reposed in him by choosing him to ascend the throne of his fore-fathers, promising that he will not disappoint them.
He said he was going to run an all inclusive government, devoid of bitterness and discrimination, assuring that he will serve as a voice to the voiceless, a father to the fatherless and a husband to the widows in the entire Opokuma clan.
King Diongoli assured that he will interface with government and other corporate bodies to raise the standard of living of his people, noting that the annual Onde Fiya Sii kou festival shall be re-branded to attract corporate sponsors to make it a global brand.
Earlier in his remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Sir Lambert Eradiri, described King Diongoli as a shining light to his generation and beyond and prayed that God should imbue him with the wisdom of Solomon as he leads his people.
