Governor Kashim Shettima has yesterday relieved the Borno state Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Mr. Inuwa Bwala of his position as member of the state Executive Council with immediate effect.
Vanguard gathered that this is the first time Governor Shettima reshuffled his cabinet since he assumed office in 2011.
Shettima also directed the Special Adviser on Research, Documentation and Strategy, Dr. Mohammed Bulama to take over and oversee the Ministry pending the appointment of a substantive commissioner.
This was contained in a press statement signed and issued by the Permanent Secretary- administration, Dr. Maryam Bukar Abba Ibrahim which was made available to Journalists yesterday.
Similarly, Governor Shettima also relieved three Senior Special Assistants, Makinta Zarami, Ali Umar and Umar Ali Bolori of their positions.
Shettima expressed appreciation to the former commissioner and the three Senior Special Assistants for their respective contributions under his administration.
It would be recalled that the nationwide APC ward congress scheduled to take place in Borno state on Saturday (Today) has been postponed following allegations of circulation of fake printed ballot papers and other sensitive materials in the state.
The alleged circulation of the fake printed ballot papers and other sensitive materials was said to have been masterminded by some government officials suspected to be loyal to former Governor Ali Modu Sheriff who is also the factional leader of the APC in the state.
Reacting to the sack, the former Commissioner for Information, Mr. Inuwa Bwala told our Correspondent that “ As a public office holder, I am always prepared to leave office at anytime, and so this development did not come to me as a surprise.
“ It is at the discretion of the governor to appoint or sack anybody and I thanked him for the opportunity given me to serve as commissioner under his administration.
“ I have no regrets for whatsoever to be relieved of my appointment, because who ever insists to be loyal must be loyal to pay the price, and I give God the glory”. Bwala said
