THOUGH the hiccups and controversies that trailed weekend’s ward congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are yet to abate, the party will tomorrow hold its local council congresses across the country. Leaders of the party have resolved to go by the timetable the party issued for the congresses from the wards to the state level. And going by the timetable, the local council congresses to elect council executive committees will be held tomorrow while the state congresses come up on April 23.

What an endorsement of quality leadership! If a progressive African leader like Koroma attests to the excellence of Asiwaju Tinubu’s leadership, may be Nigerians have found the president they truly can trust. It is time to ask men of true competence to take the plunge. The best of us should lead the rest of us.

ABUJA— Barely a month after President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe made derogatory remarks about Nigeria and its citizens, the Federal Government, yesterday, reacted, describing Mugabe’s statement as “unstatesmanlike and dishonourable.”

THE World Bank President,  Jim Yong Kim, yesterday, at the ongoing IMF/World Bank Spring Meetings restated that Nigeria is one of the top five countries that has the largest number of poor. Nigeria, he said ranked third in the world while India ranked number one with 33 per cent of the world poor. China is ranked second with 13 per cent of the world’s poor, followed by Nigeria where seven per cent of the world poor live in. He said that Bangladesh has six per cent share of the world’s poor while the Democratic Republic of Congo has five per cent of the world’s poor population.

LAGOS—GOVERNOR Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, yesterday appealed to the public to exercise patience in their bid to enjoy dividends of power sector reforms.

I was in a long chat with a friend who was worried about the campaign to “leave Keshi alone.”
My friend recognises the freedom coaches enjoy on technical matters especially with regard to selection of players and team tactics. But he is afraid that the Nigerian factor could make nonsense of the freedom coaches enjoy on technical matters. Nigerians either give in to sentiments or get swayed by inducements.

I don’t think I am planning to get married now because am still young, I’m in my youth and moreover, I am just 27 years old. Maybe later in my late thirties I can start planing to get married or not.
